Crock Pot Apple Pie

for a 5-6 quart Crock Pot.

A note about the apples:  I have tried many varieties of apples taking into consideration not only the taste, but the consistency of the final product.  Many types will get very mealy or mushy in the end which works for apple sauce.  Granny Smith and Braeburn still have some firmness and have a nice blend of sweet and tart.  ENJOY!

8 to 10 Organic Granny Smith Apples

8 to 10 Organic Braeburn Apples

¼ Cup Brown Sugar

¼ cup Organic Evaporated Cane Juice (natural sugar)

¼ cup raw organic butter

1.5 tsp Saigon Cinnamon (this is the BEST cinnamon)

½ tsp fine sea salt

(mix dry ingredients together and then cover apples)

Peel and core apples. Section apples. Take half of the sectioned apples and cut in half, so that you have some large and smaller pieces. Toss in the seasoning mixture and place in crock pot. Dot with butter on top.

Cover and turn heat on high for approximately 3 hours. After about 1 hour- use a large spoon to turn apples about every ½ hour.

If needed you can add a little water

You can also leave the peels on the apples
